Eagle River Nature Center

Enjoy the picturesque drive back Eagle River Road to the end, about 12 miles from Eagle River making the drive about 33 miles from BWBC. The ER Nature Center is the start of the original Iditarod trail and it goes all the way over the mountains to Girdwood via Crow Pass. The trail is relatively flat and well maintained with benches and informational boards for the first 1-2 miles. There are also cool decks you can walk over creeks on and watch the salmon spawn in late summer. The trail is available year around with waterfalls, the Eagle River and The Perch as beautiful landmarks worth the hike. There is a 5$ charge (cash only) to park here and it is NOT part of the state parking pass system. The Nature Center has lots of neat, kid friendly informational exhibits. There are also regular planned events at the Nature Center including guided hikes. The drive back is worth it! Lovely in every way.
