Eagle & Symphony Lakes trail is about 10 miles round trip. The South Fork trailhead is located up Hiland Valley 30 miles south of BWBC. The majority of the hike to the lakes is rather level, but beware of the boulder field just before the lakes. Many dogs, especially small ones, have a hard time hopping the boulders. Take care as it’s a long walk back with a sprained ankle. The lakes are gorgeous and well worth the trip. The bridge crossing South Fork is a great place to stop for lunch and enjoy the views. From this trail you can access all the surrounding peaks including Harp and the Eagle River Overlook for more experienced hikers. As with all hiking in Alaska, we highly recommend you take bear spray and make lots of noise as you hike no matter where you go.
